Knit the Ravel'd Sleave of Care
Ah. Yes. This is the time in the month when I usually do a maker post. But there has not been a lot of that lately. I did stop to wonder how long the body of the cardigan I’ve been slowly working on during our many park visits has gotten, and realized I’m nearly to the bottom border (next, sleeves!)
I also went to Yarn Kandy one last time and got some lovely Spincycle yarn to make a Night Shift shawl, because I’ve been wanting to make one for awhile and also because I’m moving somewhere that I might actually be able to wear a giant squishy scarf more than once a year. It seemed like a good next project once I finish my mindless tiny stockinette one, still easy but in a different way.
I bade my local art supply store farewell and also rounded out my metallic watercolor selection. I’ve been doing themed marginalia in my bullet journal and having lots of fun trying a new thing each month. March was ocean waves, and April is little 1970s style flowers.
I also sorted all of my journaling supplies into small bags which I then put into a larger bag, so I’ll be able to keep them with me as things get packed up (and just in case there’s a delay between our arrival and when our things get there).
There hasn’t been a lot of time to sit down and create things, but I am glad that I have “support projects” that I can pull out when I have a minute, or when I need a minute. It can be tempting to abandon practices during times of upheaval, but creating helps me more than scrolling Twitter does, and I would definitely default to the latter during downtime if I didn’t leave a knitting bag and a paint set out on my desk.
