I finished all of one knit this month: a pair of socks. The photo doesn’t do the colors justice, although the stitch pattern I chose definitely does. I liked them so much that I immediately put them on and then cast on for another pair, using stashed variegated sock yarn that I hadn’t used previously because I wasn’t sure how the colors would show up.
Some of my making has been ritualistic—among other things that I won’t share here, I did a journal spread for Imbolc. I enjoyed painting a sheet of printer paper a cute plaid pattern with acrylic paint before cutting it up to fold into a Brigid’s Cross, and immediately began plotting other ways to incorporate fancy paper I decorated myself into my journaling practice. (Stamps both by Journal As Altar, I love all of Erin’s things)
I also tried my hand at mending, something I haven’t previously had the mental energy for. I fixed a split seam in a jacket sleeve, repaired a couple of window screens, and found a creative solution for the flimsy strip of overlay that was peeling off my cheap desk in the place where my arm rubs across it when I write. I certainly won’t be making video tutorials of any of these, but they work well enough for me, and I’m at peace.
And finally, the printed result from the plate I shared in this month's intro post. I’m still not perfectly pleased with it, but it was my first foray into making a repeating pattern that would add complexity when rotated, so as an experiment, it was a success.
I don’t have any big future plans for things I want to make, at least for now. I’ve got another sock on my needles, but I’d otherwise like to leave space for curiosity to lead.
