The daffodils are beginning to bloom, and the forsythia hedge between us and our uphill neighbor has already dropped its yellow blossoms and begun putting out leaves, and I’m inside, painting. At least I can have the windows open.
We finally got a start date for my partner’s new job—early April—so now we’ve got about a month to sell our home here and find a new place to live where we’re going, and get three kids and all our things there. Having a date this soon is a little nerve-wracking, but also knowing how many pages are left in the current chapter helps. I know those pages will contain a lot of hard work and decision-making, but something new is on the other side.
So this month is for saying goodbye to the people, places, and things we’ll miss. For letting go of things we won’t need where we’re going, and dreaming about what will be.
